James Gunn Shuts Down Bane Rumors

James Gunn shuts down Bane rumors surrounding the John Cena Peacemaker series coming to the HBO Max streaming service that spins off from The Suicide Squad.

YouTuber Grace Randolph who is a big Zack Snyder supporter seemingly spoiled the series, for some reason, by tweeting that Bane shows up at the end which teases Peacemaker Season 2, but James Gunn said it's not true.

"That would, by my definition, mean he was technically in the show. He does not show up at the end or anywhere and has zero lines," tweeted Gunn.

Randolph and a fan went on to question whether or not James Gunn is telling the truth, where I can at least chime in and offer that in all my years of covering Gunn, he's a straight-shooter and doesn't lie to the fans.

Gunn replied accordingly to a fan, "Stop. I've never lied to the fans about this stuff and I never will."

Another website posted the same Bane rumor, but Gunn also shot that down.

"Sorry to say your second exclusive scoop is incorrect. I don't know what your first scoop was, but hopefully you're batting 500, which isn't bad. Also, I love Bane, & I'm not opposed to #Peacemaker getting his ass kicked, so who knows what the future could bring," tweeted Gunn.

The Bane rumors could have actually come about due to Dave Bautista wanting to play the character. So since Bautista starred in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movies and is friends with the director, that is how the Bane rumor might have originated. Check out fan art below.

Similar to Gunn, it also seems that Bautista is done with Marvel after Guardians of the Galaxy 3, so perhaps Bautista could still play Bane in a potential Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max which would see him reteam with his fellow WWE Superstar, Cena.

Peacemaker premiers January 2022 on HBO Max.
